About the Design

Birds nest on beaches and other coastal habitats, where they are threatened by human development and sea-level rise. Beachgoers often get too close, exposing chicks and eggs to being crushed underfoot, overheating in the sun, or succumbing to predators. Audubon's Coastal Bird Stewardship Program trains volunteers to protect coastal birds through monitoring, signage and fencing, beachgoer education, and working with coastal communities.
